Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Friday visited the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th Watch) in Marikina City, expressing gratitude for the church’s spiritual support and reaffirming his advocacy for the poor and sick through holistic health and public service programs.
During the 9 May visit, Go was prayed over by church leaders, including Apostle Jonathan Ferriol, Bishop Aldrin Palanca, Bishop/Councilor Sam Ferriol, Bishop Reynald Sulayao, and Prb. Rene Fremista. Go highlighted the importance of spiritual health alongside physical well-being, noting that it forms part of his agenda as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography.
Apostle Ferriol shared a message of encouragement rooted in Hebrews 6:10, "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” The passage, he said, aligned with Go’s mantra: “Ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo sa Diyos.”
("Service to people is service to God.")
While the church maintains a neutral stance in electoral politics, Ferriol noted that its members consider candidates who embody biblical values, particularly in caring for the vulnerable.
Go is the first public servant to receive the church’s “Service to the Nation” award — an honor reflecting the church’s recognition of his work for the sick and the poor. He reiterated his commitment to service, saying, “Nandito lang ang inyong Kuya Bong Go, patuloy na magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon.”
("I am here, your Kuya Bong Go, to continue serving you because it is my habit to serve, and I believe that service to the people is service to the Lord.")
The senator has championed healthcare access, livelihood programs, and community support services throughout his first term, positioning his legislative work under the banner of “malasakit.”
