DOH deploys emergency health teams on expressways ahead of polls

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday said it has deployed emergency team on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in anticipation of the expected influx of travelers heading to their respective provinces.

DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa assured that their Health Emergency Response Teams are ready to respond by manning the expressway health posts or the public may also call Emergency 911 or the DOH Hotline 1555 Press 2.

"This election, let's be safe and calm on the road, make sure that we are in good condition and that our vehicles are in good condition before traveling," Herbosa said in Filipino

Some of the DOH emergency teams on standby at various health posts along NLEX are emergency responders from East Avenue Medical Center, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, Batangas General Hospital, Joni Villanueva General Hospital, and Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital.

Meanwhile, along SLEX, the health posts of Las Pinas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center, Valenzuala Medical Center, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, and the Philippine Heart Center.

On the polling day itself, the DOH will also set up health posts at various voting centers nationwide.

Medical teams will also be on standby to provide first-aid and medical services to voters and deployed government personnel.

The DOH will be on Code White Alert starting 11 May in preparation for the national and local elections the next day.

The alert status will remain in effect until 14 May to ensure the readiness of health facilities and personnel to respond to any potential health emergencies before, during, and after election day.

Under Code White Alert, DOH hospitals and health facilities are placed on heightened preparedness.
