The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough investigation into an alleged explosion that occurred Thursday afternoon at the parking area of Whitehouse Spa, located at 195 Scout Chuatoco, Barangay Obrero, Quezon City.
According to QCPD officer-in-charge Police Col. Randy Glenn Silvio on Friday, the SIT will evaluate findings and develop a coordinated approach to the investigation. He will supervise the team, with Police Col. Roman Arugay, Deputy District director for Operations (DDDO), serving as the SIT Commander, and Police Lt. Col. Joel Villanueva, chief of the District Directorial staff, as assistant commander, along with 11 other designated members.
Initial findings from the Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team indicated that a safety lever and several metallic fragments of what appeared to be an MK2 hand grenade were recovered from the scene.
The QC Forensic Group has secured these pieces of evidence for further examination to help identify the explosive used.
The creation of the SIT aims to expedite the investigation, determine the motive behind the incident, and identify and apprehend the suspects. This is in addition to ongoing operations, including dragnet activities, Oplan Sita checkpoints and CCTV footage review that were immediately launched following the explosion.
“The creation of this investigation team underscores our commitment to uncovering the truth and bringing the perpetrators to justice. We urge anyone with relevant information to report it immediately to the nearest police station or call the QC Helpline 122 for the swift resolution of the incident,” Silvio said.
