Pia quitting pro volleyball?

Pia Ildefonso is bidding goodbye to Farm Fresh — and possibly, to volleyball altogether.

In a heartfelt post on social media, the 22-year-old spiker reflected on her journey as she announced her departure from the team, signaling what could be the end of her playing career.

“When I stepped into the pros, my goal was to find my purpose and carve out a place in this world. I may not have medals to show or titles to boast, but what I gained is far greater — growth, grit, and a deeper sense of who I am today,” Ildefonso wrote.

“No long messages — just thank you, volleyball! Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout my journey — thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“The world is zo zo zooo big, and there’s so much more out there to discover and experience. Here’s to new beginnings and all the amazing things God has in store next,” she concluded.

Ildefonso becomes the latest name in what’s shaping up to be a major Farm Fresh exodus this offseason.

She follows the exit of veterans Ckyle Tagsip, Janel Delerio, AJ Jingco and Jane Gonzales — who all parted ways with the club two weeks ago — as the Foxies brace for a rebuild.

A product of Ateneo de Manila University, Ildefonso was part of the franchise’s pioneer team that debuted in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference.

Known for her stint as a middle blocker in college, she took on a new challenge in the pro ranks, transitioning to an outside hitter role for most of her run with the team.

Despite her versatility and effort, Farm Fresh endured a rocky start in the PVL, finishing winless in their inaugural campaign with a 0-5 record.

Adding to the overhaul, the Foxies recently made a significant move on the sidelines by bringing in veteran Italian tactician Alessandro Lodi as head coach. Benson Bocboc, who previously called the shots, remains with the team as assistant coach.

Lodi is joined by fellow Italians Fabio Menta as consultant and Carlo Buzzichelli handling strength and conditioning.
