Go out and vote, Marcos tells OFWs

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called on Filipinos living and working abroad to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

In a video message, Marcos said that participating in the 2025 polls allows overseas Filipino voters (OFWs) to help shape the country’s future.

Overseas voting began on 13 April, 2025, and will remain open until 12 May, coinciding with Election Day in the Philippines.

This year marks the first implementation of internet voting in select areas abroad, allowing voters to cast their ballots online.

According to the Commission on Elections, around 1.2 million Filipinos overseas are registered to vote. Seventy-seven Philippine consular posts are serving as voting centers, while 16 embassies and consulates are conducting in-person voting with ballots sent via mail.

Marcos highlighted the convenience of internet voting for Filipinos abroad.

“Voting is now easier. No matter where you are in the world, there’s no need to line up or travel. Through online voting, you can make your voice heard quickly, safely and efficiently,” he said.

He also urged voters to choose leaders who are compassionate, capable and strong-willed.

“Let’s exercise this right and choose candidates with heart, competence, and determination,” Marcos stressed.

In the May 12 elections, Filipinos will elect 12 senators, 254 district representatives, 63 party-list lawmakers, and 17,942 local officials, including governors, mayors and councilors.
