The Philippines, through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), has called on India and Pakistan to resolve their issues in a peaceful manner.
In a statement on Wednesday, the DFA also said that it is “closely monitoring” the situation between India and Pakistan.
“We call for a peaceful resolution to the current issues,” the department said.
“Our Embassy in Islamabad has confirmed that there are no reports of Filipino casualties in the incident,” it added, referring to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left at least 26 civilians dead and 20 others wounded.
The DFA urged the Filipino community in the affected areas to take “sensible precautions and continue to be vigilant.”
According to the department, approximately 3,350 Filipinos are currently based in India, while 3,151 reside in Pakistan.
Based on the latest report, India has "Operation Sindoor," a series of air and missile strikes targeting nine locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
The Indian government said that the operation aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure linked to groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
For its part, the Pakistani government claimed that it had downed at least five Indian Air Force jets.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the strikes as “an act of war,” and vowed that Islamabad will retaliate.
