DISRUPTION OF THE KNOWN

Disruptions, though uncomfortable, are often the birthplace of transformation. The blackouts forced individuals to confront their reliance on external structures. They illuminated the need for resilience, for adaptability, for a return to simplicity.

Blackout! All electricity vanished at noon last week in parts of Spain and Portugal. A hush fell upon the streets, a silence thick with uncertainty. And fear.

This recent blackout had everyone speaking about conspiracy theories, discussions on the solar flares affecting our grids and how vulnerable humanity really is. It disrupted lives, halted economies and tested the resilience of each person present there, as well as the world looking into the situation through their handheld phone screens. As of this writing, I saw news of Brazil and other countries also experiencing blackouts.

In Spain and Portugal, the blackout stretched across vast regions, leaving millions stranded, no credit cards working, no internet. Stalled trains, planes and silent screens. Airports fell into disarray, transit systems and hospitals ground to a halt, and communication networks faltered. The modern world, so dependent on its electrical heartbeat, was momentarily silenced.

Through this silence, deep truths emerged. The presence of the energy of chaos all around, the fragility of our systems, the illusion of control, the dependence on external forces — all laid bare.

In the darkness, people turned to one another. Conversations replaced scrolling. Strangers shared resources. Communities, often fragmented by the distractions of modern life, rediscovered the power of human connection. The absence of electricity became an opportunity to reconnect — with nature, with self, with the rhythms of existence beyond the digital hum.

There will be more of such scary situations happening as we are moving through this energetic shift in the world. And the crazy thing is, we are existing in two levels or two worlds now — one world of our daily linear grind or relationships, work, goals and traditions; a second world parallel to this, emerging through chaotic, illogical and weird happenings where veils of illusions are dropping and new ideas emerging. To remain with both means to expand, shifting from the traditional viewpoint of this limited linear life perspective to find some meaning in all this.

In this blackout experience, this silence, lies an invitation. An invitation to pause, to reflect, to awaken.

Age of Aquarius.

Pluto transformation to the Age of Aquarius

I have been speaking and writing about the Age of Aquarius — a time of spiritual awakening, of collective evolution, of breaking free from outdated paradigms — for so long now. Astrological planetarial shifts, officially since last year, has really brought us into the beginning of the new era. These blackouts and technical failures are truly symbolic — like a cosmic nudge urging humanity to shift its consciousness.

Disruptions, though uncomfortable, are often the birthplace of transformation. The blackouts forced individuals to confront their reliance on external structures. They illuminated the need for resilience, for adaptability, for a return to simplicity.

This is the initial message of the Age of Aquarius: it’s not just a noonie-noonie astrologer’s theory, but energetic shifts where chaos as the catalyst will force our practical and physical world, our habits and traditions, paradigms and beliefs to shift. The chaos of the present moment is not a curse; it is a catalyst.

The planetarial positions that are present above our skies whose energies are affecting everything include Pluto, the planet of deep transformation through chaos, now in the sign of Aquarius. This constellation sign is about collective humanity and new forms of collaboration; of power transference to the people away from traditional top-down government or big business controls.

The Pluto transit is traditionally always marked by chaos, death and dying before a rebirth can happen. In this “dying” or darkening is an opportunity to cultivate inner stability rather than external dependency; to find our unique power and authenticity, embrace our diversity and find new sustainable ways of living. I know these are all words, but we must awaken to a new spiritual perspective so collaborative action for the collective good can happen.

Pluto will go retrograde this weekend (4 May) until 13 October, meaning the energies will turn inward for a review of what has happened since November 2024. We can use this energy to feel this deep shifting inside us, inside our collective humanity on how we define community, how we are healing, and how we are approaching upheavals and changes.

We can reflect on our own personal attitudes and beliefs towards the morphing future and perhaps new paths as we co-create from deep within, the kind of person and lives we want to embrace. (And note this is just one planet I am writing about! There are two more powerful transits of two planets that will make the second half of this year go even wilder. More on this in succeeding articles).

The absence of electricity became an opportunity to reconnect — with nature, with self, with the rhythms of existence beyond the digital hum.

Bumpy ride

Yearly, when people ask me if things will be better for their relationships, money matters and businesses, I always revert back saying there is a cosmic map which is a power tool that astrologers read to aid directions of our lives and the evolutionary trends of our world. If I were to give an allegory of an airplane ride, we presently are all buckled in seatbelts as we go through a turbulent, stormy area of our journey.

This part of the evolutionary ride is all about the expansion of our perspectives and embracing a more spiritual (or quantum) paradigm. Not everything we see and touch is real, and understanding energies and frequencies and cosmic light and wave patterns, inner intuitive insights and downloads, innovations in the micro is the way to go from here on. It is about embracing the discomfort of transformation and not retreating into the illusion of stability. If we continue to embrace the illusions of the material world, we will be rudely awakened through confusion and the extreme polarity (fake news all over the place, discern and listen to both sides please) that is being played out by global power brokers.

The news says the power grid failure still cannot be explained–whether cyber sabotage or rare atmospheric event such as a solar flare (I just wrote about this in my column last week!), one thing is clear… this period of darkness is a continuum since the pandemic.

It is a moment for us to listen, learn and evolve to the possibility of something greater coming up beyond the chaos. The world of the planets does not lie as we read the signs all affecting our material world. As above, so below. Something luminous is emerging. May it be us in our awakening.
