An exchange of cyber libel suits may yet break out between the camps of ex-lovers actors Kyline Alcantara, 22, and Kobe Paras, 27. But there might be none between the ex-lovers themselves.
It's their kith and kin who may sue each other into silence. The court petitioners may include their respective parents, their siblings and the sweethearts of the siblings.
The exchange of fires between the two camps has the social media network as setting. On Kobe’s side is his ex-actress mother, the US-based Jackie Forster, who is the ex-wife of Kobe’s father, cager-turned-comedian Benjie Paras. Kobe’s older brother, Andrei, an actor and basketball player himself is on Kobe’s side, of course.
Andrei once castigated a friend of Kyline whom he found out as the one who posted a photo of Kobe carousing with some women and described Kobe as a lover of wild parties which he joins without Kyline. Andrei stressed that the friend must be earning money from her postings, prompting the friend to delete what she posted.
After Andre, it was their mom who went on verbal assaults against Kyline and her parents. The most recent one was on Sunday night, 27 April, in which Forster accused Kyline of being “toxic and violent,” “abusive and manipulative.” Forster asserted that Kyline’s behavior is something she learned as a witness of her parents alleged stressed relationship.
On Alcantara’s side are her parents, her brother and the brother’s girlfriend. The brother’s girlfriend, who posts as Zamantha, reacted to Forster’s accusations and denied all of them. She revealed that, like Kobe, she once also lived with the family as the brother’s girlfriend. The brother was named as Robin.
Kobe has never posted anything about the separation. He simply unfollowed Kyline after she unfollowed him on social media. Soon after unfollowing Kobe, Kyline posted quotes about discovering deceit in a relationship and surviving the ruins. Her followers describe the quotes as “borrowed” since the quotes have no attribution and she is not known to have a flare for writing.
It has been said that Kobe and Kyline cannot categorically admit to the public that they have broken up allegedly because they have endorsement deals as a couple. But not one of their fans as a couple have ever posted on social media what products, services, or establishments the now ex-couple endorse. Also no company has sent out words that they are set to go to court for breach of contract committed by Kobe and Kylene.
Zamantha’s closing message in one of her Instagram Stories postings: “I sincerely hope moving forward, you [Kobe’s mom] can choose integrity, fairness, and genuine respect over distortion and harm.”
“Lastly, Kyline deserves to be defended with the same grace and dignity she has always shown.”
Well, showbiz followers have a strong need to know the high’s and low’s in the lives of entertainment personalities and other celebrities. So while we’re all still reeling from the passing of Nora Aunor, Pilita Corrales, Hajji Alejandro and Pope Francis, we all can’t avoid a self-satisfying curiosity in the high’s and low’s of personalities like Kyline and Kobe.

Now, let us treat you to a high.
“Actor Kelvin Miranda’s journey with Netflix has been nothing short of remarkable,” asserts the actor’s manager, Tyrone Escalante, who owns an eponymous talent management team.
Escalante, in his Facebook page, enumerates Miranda’s movies and series shown over the years on Netflix Philippines that have been well received.
Miranda was Mark Sta. Maria in Dead Kids (2019). Escalante stresses that the film directed by Mikhail Red is the first Filipino Netflix Original and it “was a game-changing moment in Kelvin’s career.”
Sue Ramirez, Khalil Ramos, Markus Paterson, Vance Larena, Gabby Padilla and Jan Silverio are also in the cast.
Dead Kids also happens to be a rare Pinoy streaming movie reviewed in The New York Times, specifically on the paper’s online issue on 6 December 2019. Natalia Winkelman wrote the review, which stressed Miranda’s role in the thriller.
Winkleman wrote: “The movie follows Mark Sta. Maria (Kelvin Miranda), a withdrawn teen known to classmates as a ‘dead kid’ — a wallflower and wet blanket. In school he is both the brainiest and the poorest; he earns money by completing his wealthy peers’ homework for a fee. He is a familiar character type, as is his tormentor, the vain golden boy Chuck (Markus Paterson), who enjoys partying and doling out swirlies.
“When three students approach Sta. Maria, as they call him, with a plot to take Chuck hostage, the lure of fast cash and vigilante revenge are enough to pry him out of his strait-laced shell.”
The reviewer revealed that the film was based on news reports of kidnapping in a Manila college, and supplied the link. We bothered to open the link and we were shocked by the report about how some college boys could fall into a dreadful act.

Miranda was Norman in “Missed Connections” (2023) which occupied #1 spot on the Netflix Philippines chart for two weeks after it opened on 4 June 2023. The film also top-billed Miles Ocampo and Chie Filomeno.
Directed by Jelise Chung, “Missed Connections” follows a hopeless romantic girl Mae (Miles Ocampo) who turns to a social media app to track down an attractive guy she bumped into at the grocery store. But as it turns out, the guy — whose name is Norman (Kelvin) — is interested in another girl.
The actor was Soleil Sikat in “Chances Are, You and I” which opened in theaters in May 2024 and on Netflix on 19 September of the same year. It ranked #5 for sometime on the Netflix chart.
Produced by Pocket Media Productions, which is owned by the family of the film’s director herself, Catherine Camarillo, Chances Are was also screened at the Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival also in May 2024. Miranda won the Most Prolific Dramatic Actor award at the festival. He flew to Japan to receive his award.
The film follows two young people (Miranda and Kira Balinger) suffering from a life-threatening illness. They meet a hospital and reflect on their lives as death looms near.
Miranda is Migs in “Happy Crush” (2025) which once ranked #1 TV Show on Netflix Philippines.
Happy Crush, which has eight episodes, follows the story of Carla, a celebrity who returns to her hometown after her mother’s death. As she reconnects with her past, she reflects on her high school years and her first love.
Maymay Entrata plays Carla, with Miranda as Migs, Zach Castañeda as Ayon and Andrei Miguel as Snow. The series was directed by Carlo Enciso Catu.
Escalante addressed the streaming company: “Thank you Netflix for the incredible opportunities you’ve given to Kelvin Miranda. As his manager, it has been an absolute honor to witness his growth and success, and we are incredibly grateful for the trust that you have placed in him over the years.”
