Benguet farm welcomes AI agri-tech platform

BAGUIO CITY — Delegates from the World Bank and YieldsApp, an Israeli agricultural technology company, visited a farmers’ cooperative in Benguet province Monday for the initial pilot test of the YieldsApp platform.

The group toured the Taloy Farmers’ Multipurpose Cooperative (TAFARMCO) office in Taloy Sur, Tuba.

YieldsApp is described as an AI-powered agronomic intelligence platform. Earlier in the day, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-RFO CAR) in Baguio City.

Bareket Knafo, World Bank agriculture specialist, met with Danilo P. Daguio, DA-RFO CAR regional technical director for operations.

Knafo discussed the World Bank’s technical assistance to the DA-Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up, with a focus on YieldsApp.

Meantime, YieldsApp chief executive officer Guy Sella explained the company’s technology and how it can support farming communities through improved decision-making and productivity.

The World Bank delegation also included Data-Driven Agriculture Specialist Alexis Abetria and Technical Assistance Coordinator Miguel Flores. Joining them were YieldsApp vice president Joshua Ellis and technical staff from the DA-Philippine Rural Development Project National, Project Support, and Regional Project Coordination Offices, led by NPCO GGU alternate head Joseph C. Pacon.
