MARIVELES, Bataan — The State-owned Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) Central Walk unveiled a new landmark on Friday — “Pasang Daan,” a commemorative monument celebrating the rich history and cultural identity of the municipality of Mariveles.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by key dignitaries including Hausland Development Corporation CEO Atty. Christopher Ryan Tan, Mariveles Tourism Department Head Jesus Russel Maninang, and Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Chief of Staff Augusto Kimpo, who delivered remarks on behalf of AFAB Administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman.

Various stakeholders from the FAB community, local officials, and cultural advocates were also present at the event.

Designed by acclaimed Filipino artist Abdulmari “Toym” Imao Jr., “Pasang Daan” symbolizes the resilience and heritage of Mariveles. Representing the artist at the event was his son, Diego Imao, who joined guests in unveiling the piece.

Located just a few miles from the historic Corregidor Island, Mariveles holds deep historical significance as the starting point of the infamous Bataan Death March during World War II.

The new monument now forms an integral part of the evolving FAB Walk landscape, reflecting the shared vision of Hausland and AFAB to transform the area into a vibrant, culturally grounded public space — blending heritage with progress.

In his message, Kimpo emphasized that the installation of ”Pasang Daan” not only revives a vital part of Mariveles’ history but also marks the beginning of further developments to be introduced by Hausland. The monument stands as a powerful tribute to the past and a symbol of the Freeport’s ongoing transformation.

Tan also reaffirmed Hausland’s commitment to building spaces that integrate functionality with cultural value, further enhancing Mariveles’ appeal as a growing hub for investment and community life.
