Castillejos, Zambales — Senatorial candidate Camille Villar said she plans to boost the agriculture sector of Zambales.

During an ambush interview at the Castillejos Municipal Hall on Monday, Villar said she wants to help improve the province’s agricultural productivity.

The renowned businesswoman and daughter of Manny and Cynthia Villar has expressed her intention to provide much-needed assistance to the farmers and fisherfolk of the province.

She said her family has been closely working with PhilMech to ensure that farming is done efficiently.

Villar also emphasized the importance of agribusiness training for farmers and fisherfolk.

She explained that producers should be well-versed in businesses involving farming, food processing, distribution, and related services such as equipment manufacturing and marketing.

Villar also aims to encourage the youth to take up agriculture, as the number of Filipino farmers continues to decline.

The senatorial hopeful was welcomed by Mayor Jeff Khonghun and took part in the Monday flag-raising ceremony at the Castillejos Municipal Hall grounds.

The mayor said the Khonghuns and the Villars are family friends, and that the young senatorial candidate calls him "Tito" as a sign of respect.

"The Villars have always supported the agricultural growth of Castillejos, with the recent construction of the town's Dairy Box. I believe that Camille has the capability to lead and help the Filipino people at the senate," Khonghun said.

After her visit to Castillejos, Villar also visited other towns in the province as well as Olongapo City.
