Suarez: I’m coming to win

Knowing what they will be up against, Boholst, Suarez and the entire team did not skip a beat in their training.

As soon as his visa gets delivered on Monday, top-rated super-featherweight Charly Suarez will head to the airport to catch the latest available flight for the United States.

His team had originally eyed to travel to America on 10 April so the Filipino boxer and his chief trainer Delfin Boholst can have more than enough time to adjust to the local time and weather in preparation for his world title shot opposite Mexican Emanuel Navarrete on 10 May in San Diego, California.

Then the planned date of 16 April was not met, leaving Boholst and Suarez a bit worried.

But on Black Saturday, Boholst told the DAILY TRIBUNE that the visa will be available on Monday.

“We are leaving this Monday,” Boholst said.

Given the 15-hour time difference between the US West Coast and the Philippines, Boholst admits Suarez will have to go easy in his gym workouts.

“He will be just doing warm-up training three to five days upon our arrival while he is getting used to the weather and the time,” said Boholst, who was Suarez’s buddy during their days in the national team.

By the time they set foot in America, they will have less than three weeks to adjust to everything.

Knowing what they will be up against, Boholst, Suarez and the entire team did not skip a beat in their training.

“We didn’t take a rest,” Boholst said.

“No Holy Week break.”

Navarrete, who is risking his World Boxing Organization 130-pound crown against Suarez at the Pechanga Arena, is the huge betting favorite.

“That doesn’t bother me. I know what I am capable of,” Suarez, 35, said, stressing that he is not going to let this opportunity slip away.

“I’m coming to win.”
