New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has ramped up operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in coordination with government agencies and airlines, anticipating more than 1.18 million passengers during the Holy Week rush from 13 to 20 April — a 14.23 percent increase from last year's 1.04 million passengers.
Additionally, it is anticipated that flight movements will increase from 6,537 in 2024 to 6,724 this year.
With 851 flights, Good Friday, 18 April, is predicted to be the busiest day, while Tuesday, 15 April, will see the fewest flights, with 818 — still more than any day during Holy Week the previous year.
NNIC has put in place a wide range of measures in close coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Bureau of Immigration (BI), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), and airline operators to guarantee terminal operations that are reliable, safe, and secure.
All terminals will have 24-hour assistance desks manned by uniformed officers, medical teams, and airport officials. To control curbside and parking flow, more traffic aides will be deployed, and better Wi-Fi access will ensure travelers can stay connected.
The latest measures build on improvements made during NNIC’s first six months managing NAIA, including the addition of passenger boarding bridges, upgraded baggage and security systems, expanded parking and transport areas, improved air conditioning, and a more reliable power supply. CCTV systems now monitor the entire luggage handling process to enhance security and transparency.
NNIC also reminded travelers to arrive at the airport at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures to avoid delays.
It is also advised that travelers check their flight information and terminal assignments, ensure that their travel documentation is complete, and refrain from bringing forbidden items in their checked or hand-carried luggage.
Although the airport is fully operational and support staff are available, travelers should anticipate longer queues at security and check-in, greater crowds, and potential delays because of the high volume of passengers.
