Pasig City mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya has committed to building in-city housing for the city’s homeless families and informal settlers within two years, should she win in the upcoming midterm elections.
Discaya, a successful businesswoman and owner of a quadruple-A construction firm, said they have already an area where they can build vertical housing for the informal settlers, homeless families and single parents living in an informal settlement.
“Relocation is not an option. Pasigueños should live in Pasig. Additional housing for Pasigueños will not remain a promise,” said the 48-year-old philanthropist who runs a charity foundation that aids the poor through medical missions and various community service projects.
“For me, I don’t just want words, I want action. A true-blooded Pasigueña will be serving all Pasigueño families. To me, you always come first, you always win!” she added.
Discaya emphasized that public servants should live to lift others and not to be remembered.
“In fact, the goodness not shown today is just a story of ambition. Legacy? That will come if your heart is focused on helping, not praise,” she said.
“We don’t need a statue or a name on the wall. What the world needs are people who are willing to support, listen, and love in the present,” she added.
For Discaya, legacy is just the shadow of a life well-lived.
“So if you can do something good today — do it now. Not because you want to be remembered, but because someone needs it now,” Discaya said.
Discaya also stressed that there is no shortcut to transform Pasig into a better place.
“No one said this path was easy. We know we have to go through and struggle with every step — no shortcuts, no urgency,” she said.
“But for every hardship, there is a reason. In every trial, there is a purpose. We’re not doing this just for now, but for a better tomorrow, more comfortable, and more meaningful for every Pasigueño. It’s not easy, but it’s always worth fighting for Pasigueños,” she added.
