Sister Janice (not her real name for privacy) called me up and asked me to accompany her to the home of two visionaries, Brother Carmelo Cortez and Sister Puring Fruto, who are brother and sister, in San Francisco del Monte in Quezon City. I readily agreed and brought along my mother.
The place was crowded with visitors viewing the exhibit of dozens of sweet smelling rose petals.
Religious images, such as of Our Lady of Fatima and the Holy Trinity, were etched miraculously on the rose petals. It is scientifically impossible to etch such religious images in detail on fresh soft rose petals. They would tear easily and bleed. (View the rose petals through a link at the end of this article).
The rose petals were similar to those that appeared under the auspices of Our Lady Mediatrix of All Grace with visionary Sister Teresing Castillo in the Carmelite Convent in Lipa City.
At the time, Bro. Carmelo went viral on the internet after he posted his collection of rose petals.
The news of the rose petals from Bro. Carmelo and Sr. Teresing spread like wildfire worldwide, especially among Filipinos in the USA. This triggered thousands flying to Manila then trekking to Lipa City to view the petals, especially after news came out that a woman with cancer of the bladder was healed in Chicago through a rose petal.
At the home of Bro. Carmelo and Sr. Puring, Sr. Janice, my mother, and I were about to leave when I asked if we could say a quick last-minute prayer in front of the life-size statue of the Virgin.
After praying, suddenly, Sr. Janice had a convulsion. I was worried that she might be having an attack of some sort. With eyes closed, she spoke in a strange deep but silky voice. It immediately occurred to me that she seemed like another person, like the Virgin herself was speaking through her.
The voice said, “Pray, pray, pray. I can no longer hold back the hand of my Son.” The words hit me like a lightning bolt. Mama Mary was warning us that there was an urgency to pray hard before something terrible happened.
On the way home, as Sr. Janice drove, there was a strange silence. Perhaps, she was not even aware that she had spoken in a trance. So I told her about it, and she thanked me, implying that she really did not know what happened to her. She dropped me and my mother off where we took a taxi to our home in Alabang.
Several big disasters occurred after that visit to Bro. Carmelo and Sr. Puring.
For one, Mt. Pinatubo blew up, one of the biggest eruptions in a century. The volcanic ash rose up to the stratosphere and reached as far as Antarctica. The US research center there reported darkened skies for several days which disrupted their work. They had to start all over again.
There was also the big tsunami that hit Thailand where thousands of people died.
I never saw Sr. Janice again. She was busy working in a hospital. She told me she never wanted to be a messenger for the Lord. She was scared of all that. It was enough that she served Him through her hospital work, in her small way. She said she did not want to be a saint because saints normally suffered a lot in their lives and she could not stand pain.
