The Batasan Police Station 6 (PS 6) of the Quezon City Police District arrested a drug suspect in a buy-bust operation Friday night, which led to the confiscation of approximately P408,000 worth of shabu.
P/Lt. Col. Romil Avenido, Station Commander of PS 6, identified the suspect as Joel Furog, 22, a resident of Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
Avenido said the anti-illegal drugs operation was conducted by PS 6 in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–National Capital Region, along Kalayaan B corner Kalayaan A, Barangay Batasan Hills.
A police officer acted as a poseur buyer and was able to purchase P12,000 worth of shabu from the suspect. Upon execution of the pre-arranged signal, the operating team immediately apprehended the suspect.
Seized from Furog were 60 grams of shabu valued at P408,000; one caliber .22 revolver; two pieces of caliber .22 ammunition; one cellular phone; one coin purse; one sling bag; and the buy-bust money.
The suspect will be charged with violations of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Batas Pambansa 881 (Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
QCPD District Director P/Brig. Gen. Melecio Buslig, Jr. commended Avenido and his team and vowed to intensify the fight against illegal drugs.
