Commuters can expect more flight options and increased seat availability as flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) completes its Cebu hub expansion within the month.
The flag carrier said on Thursday that the move will enhance connectivity across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, supporting both business and leisure travel.
By next year, PAL will operate 287 weekly roundtrip domestic flights from Mactan-Cebu International Airport to 18 destinations, increasing flight frequency by 10 percent.
The airline will also deploy larger aircraft, such as 199-seater Airbus A321s, replacing smaller De Havilland Dash 8-400 NGs on select routes. These changes will add over 39,000 weekly seats, reflecting a 17 percent capacity boost.
“We invite travelers to make the most of the peak summer season by flying to these exciting destinations from Mactan-Cebu, our growing hub in the Central Philippines,” said PAL Express president Rabbi Vincent Ang.
“These additional flights and greater seat capacity reflect our flag carrier’s commitment to increase connectivity, boost the economy, and help drive tourism across our inter-island network from Cebu.”
The expansion will provide more flight options to popular destinations, including Boracay, where flights from Cebu will increase from 14 to 21 per week.
Services to Siargao will rise from 18 to 26 weekly flights, while flights between Cebu and Puerto Princesa will double from 7 to 14 per week. Cebu–Davao flights will also increase from 25 to 29 weekly.
PAL is also expanding its international routes from Cebu, launching Cebu–Ho Chi Minh flights in May 2025, following the introduction of Cebu–Osaka in late 2024.
The airline currently operates flights from Cebu to Tokyo Narita and Seoul Incheon.
