One of the victims in a road rage shooting in Antipolo has died while undergoing medical treatment, according to the Antipolo City Component Police Station.

Antipolo police chief P/Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo said Monday afternoon that the motorcycle rider, identified only by the alias Peter, died at Cabading Hospital. He had sustained gunshot wounds to the head.

Police had previously filed multiple frustrated murder cases against the 28-year-old suspect, identified as Kenneth Bautista. However, Manongdo said they will upgrade the charges to murder following the victim’s death.

Philippine National Police chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil had awarded medals to eight Antipolo police officers for their response to the shooting incident.

To recall, the shooting occurred Sunday in Sitio Boso Boso, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City.

Four people were hit — three motorcycle riders and a woman later identified as the suspect’s live-in partner.

The motorcycle rider, identified only by the alias Peter, died at Cabading Hospital.

The suspect allegedly used his gun after a fistfight with two of the riders following a road altercation.

Videos circulating on social media showed a man exiting his SUV and being confronted by a group of motorcycle riders for unknown reasons. The videos also showed bystanders attempting to intervene as the riders appeared to overwhelm the man.

According to the videos, after the suspect was cornered, he drew a gun and shot the rider in front of him, followed by multiple shots at the other riders involved.

After the shooting, the suspect reportedly discovered his partner had been struck by a stray bullet. He then carried her to his SUV and fled.

Antipolo City Police officers, who were conducting checkpoints along Sumulong Highway, apprehended the suspect after a brief car chase.
