Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, known as "Mr. Malasakit," visited Sasmuan, Pampanga on 29 March, bringing government services closer to the community through a motorcade. The event covered several barangays, including Sta. Lucia, San Nicolas, and San Pedro, areas often overlooked by national leaders.
Joined by Mayor Lina Cabrera, Go was warmly received by local residents, many of whom expressed gratitude for his ongoing support for marginalized communities. During the motorcade, Go highlighted the nearly completed Super Health Center, a key project he advocated for as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health.
Go emphasized the need for more health centers in rural areas to provide primary care, consultations, and early disease detection. Over 700 such centers have been funded nationwide, with 14 located in Pampanga. He also underscored the importance of Republic Act No. 11463, the Malasakit Centers Act, which has established 167 centers across the country, helping over 17 million Filipinos.
Beyond healthcare, Go supported local businesses, urging residents to support small enterprises and promoting the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippines Act, which aids small producers.
Go’s ongoing infrastructure projects in Pampanga include road improvements in various towns and the construction of evacuation centers. He has also filed Senate Bill No. 2297 to institutionalize the Overseas Filipino Workers Hospital in Pampanga and Senate Bill No. 2990 to double its bed capacity.
Go’s visit demonstrated his commitment to serving the underprivileged and bringing government closer to the people. "Ako po ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo po yan sa Diyos," he said, reaffirming his dedication to public service.
