Kaunlad Pinoy (#133) took its party-list campaign to Panay Island on Saturday, engaging directly with communities in Capiz and Iloilo through a series of dialogues, courtesy visits, and a massive motorcade that stretched from Roxas City to Maayon.
The movement was met with enthusiastic receptions, highlighting the growing support for its advocacy in small business empowerment, transport sector improvements, and community-driven economic growth.
The day kicked off with a grand motorcade, as tricycle drivers, motorcycle riders, and local supporters joined Kaunlad Pinoy’s convoy, forming a long stretch of banners and honking horns. The streets of Roxas City and surrounding towns became a fiesta-like scene, with people cheering and waving.
In Maayon, Capiz, the Kaunlad Pinoy team was warmly received by Mayor Raymond Malapajo and local community leaders, particularly women, mothers, and small business owners. The discussions focused on the role of women in fostering economic stability, with Kaunlad Pinoy’s first nominee, James “Kuya Choi” Napoles, emphasizing the need for accessible livelihood opportunities.
“The backbone of many families and businesses are the hardworking women who keep everything running,” Napoles stated in Filipino. “We want to ensure they have the resources and opportunities to thrive, whether through entrepreneurship or community-driven programs.”
Following this, the team paid a courtesy visit to Capiz Governor Fredenil Castro, where the conversation shifted to good governance. Governor Castro, who has extensive experience in both legislative and executive governance, shared insights on aligning government initiatives with the needs of the people.
Kaunlad Pinoy’s campaign then continued into Iloilo, where the team met with Mayor Darwin Bajada of San Dionisio, Mayor Milliard Villanueva of Concepcion, Mayor Roberto Belleza Jr. of San Rafael, and Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy. These engagements reinforced a shared commitment to improving local economies, enhancing transport sector conditions, and boosting support for small-scale businesses.
The meetings provided an opportunity for local leaders and stakeholders to voice their concerns and explore ways to collaborate in pushing forward economic policies that uplift struggling communities.
