The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) marked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s 1000th day in office with an inspection of the Bocaue Bulacan Manor (BBM) Housing Project under the flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program.
Housing Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, joined by key housing officials including Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta, personally visited the BBM Project site in Barangay Batia, Bocaue.
Acuzar expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction but urged the contractor to accelerate the development of amenities in the township. “Ang utos ng mahal na Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr. ay dapat ma-enjoy ng karaniwang Pilipino ang mga amenities na dati ay para sa mayayaman lamang. Sa ilalim ng 4PH, mararanasan ng ating mga beneficiaries ang modern condominium living, kumpleto sa pasilidad,” he said.
So far, six of the planned 11 buildings for the BBM project are in advanced stages of construction. Upon completion, the project will benefit more than 4,000 Filipino families. The development of amenities, including a park, playground, swimming pool, clubhouse and basketball court, is already underway.
Under Acuzar’s leadership, DHSUD has achieved significant milestones in implementing two major programs: the 4PH and the Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli (PBBM) projects. These programs have brought renewed hope to many Filipino families.
“After almost three years of tireless service under President Marcos Jr.’s leadership, we can now see our vision taking shape. Seeing thousands of vertical housing units being built across the country is a testament that we have come a long way,” Acuzar said.
Several vertical housing projects have made significant progress in provinces such as Ilocos Norte, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Albay, Negros Occidental and Bohol, as well as in cities like Zamboanga and Caloocan. These projects aim to provide modern, condominium-style housing for underprivileged Filipinos.
The program also promotes township development, ensuring that housing projects have access to essential services such as water, electricity, schools, markets and transportation. The initial turnover of units began last year for beneficiaries of the Palayan City Township Project in Nueva Ecija, with more deliveries scheduled in the coming weeks.
On urban renewal, DHSUD has overseen the successful implementation of the PBBM Project, which has transformed the Pasig River area into a popular tourist destination. The completion of Phase 3 earlier this year connected key landmarks, including the Manila Central Post Office, Plaza Mexico, Maestranza Esplanade, Intramuros and Fort Santiago Riverfront.
“We see an influx of visitors now along Pasig River especially during sunset and night time. It has now become a new tourist spot. Not only that, this project serves as a proof of concept on how we should maximize the potential of our urban waterways,” Acuzar noted.
With more people-centered projects in development, Acuzar reaffirmed DHSUD’s commitment to creating vibrant, inclusive communities as part of President Marcos’ vision for a progressive “Bagong Pilipinas.”
“We are inspired by the President’s Bagong Pilipinas vision which is why beyond building houses, we are creating vibrant, inclusive and sustainable communities where Filipinos from all walks of life can thrive. This is our contribution to turning that vision into reality,” Acuzar said.
