Vice President Sara Duterte said Friday her father’s defense team at the International Criminal Court (ICC) may be reduced from an initial five lawyers to three.

Speaking from the Netherlands, where former President Rodrigo Duterte is detained, the Vice President said interviews were ongoing and a final team will be announced soon.

“Initially, there’s a core of five. But that depends on the volume and complexity of the work required. For now, it’s five, with three staying on,” she said.

Sara disclosed that she had spoken with the foreign lawyers joining lead counsel Nicholas Kaufman but withheld their names for privacy reasons.
