National University (NU) is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2025 with the opening of two new campuses in Cebu and Las Piñas within SM properties. This expansion increases NU’s total campus count to 14 and is expected to bring student enrollment to 85,000.

The new campuses, which are set to open later this year, align with NU’s goal of making quality education more accessible to Filipinos. The expansion reflects the shared vision of the SM Group and NU to foster positive change through education and community development.

“We've been expanding with the purpose of providing more access to quality education, which is core to the SM Group's commitment to social good,” said NU president and CEO Dr. Renato Carlos Ermita Jr. He emphasized the Sy family's long-standing support for NU and its focus on excellence in academics, infrastructure, and sports.

In line with SM's commitment to inclusivity, NU maintains an open admissions policy and offers assessments to ensure that Senior High School graduates are college-ready. This initiative aims to provide more opportunities for Filipino students, regardless of background.

NU’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its recent QS 3 Stars rating, with notable recognition in Employability and Teaching. Dr. Ermita stated that NU is focused on building international credibility and transforming into a research-oriented university to support global mobility for its students.
