Incognito star Anthony Jennings is on a roll.
After his and Maris Racal’s first film, Sosyal Climbers, landed on the top movie in Netflix, and their action series Incognito placed number one in the same streaming platform, Jennings is all poised to star in his first solo international film.
In a Variety article titled “Anthony Jennings Set for International Debut in Sonny Calvento’s ‘Mother Maybe’, the “genre-blending feature is set to begin filming in the final quarter of this year.”
“It follows Marco (Jennings), a young man who reunites with his long-lost mother during a high-stakes Asian game show, only to discover a terrifying secret: at night, his mother transforms into something monstrous,” the article noted.
“Anthony has this natural charm that makes him so easy to watch. He can make you laugh one moment and make you cry the next, which is exactly what this role demands. This balance of comedic timing and emotional depth makes him the right fit for Marco,” Calvento said.
Jennings, as per the Variety report noted, “is known for his work in the hit series Can’t Buy Me Love as Snoop Manansala” and “has built a resume across romance, drama, and action genres. His recent projects Incognito and Sosyal Climbers have dominated Netflix Philippines’ charts, with the latter breaking into Netflix’s Non-English Global Top 10.”
The movie is nothing to sneer at as it “is a tri-national co-production between Southern Lantern Studios (Philippines), E&W Films (Singapore) and Volos Films Ltd. (Taiwan).”
GMA reporter and news anchor Mariz Umali unwitting found herself embroiled in a controversy when a vlogger assumed she called Atty. Salvador Medialdea “matanda.”
To prove her innocence in the baseless accusation, Umali shared a video in her Facebook page to show what really transpired.
Umali explained that she didn’t utter the word “matanda” and claimed that what she actually said was: “Tingnan mo ‘yung ‘mata niya’ (Medialdea), nakabukas siya nu’ng una pero nu’ng nakita niya ako, ipinikit.”
“I wish to address and clarify an inaccurate claim about me that has gone viral regarding a statement I made about Former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea. A certain vlogger has circulated a post containing my voice, claiming that I referred to Former Executive Secretary Medialdea as ‘matanda’ while he was on a stretcher,” she wrote.
“This interpretation is inaccurate. What I actually said was, “Tingnan mo yung ‘mata niya’ (Medialdea), nakabukas siya nung una pero nung nakita niya ako, pinikit.” At that time, I, along with our stringer, was reviewing an exclusive footage of Former Executive Secretary Medialdea being taken out of the penitentiary on a stretcher,” she related, noting that “My observation was purely about his eyes — how they were initially open but closed upon seeing me during my attempt to interview him.”
“It is obvious that I was misheard. I want to be clear that no disrespect was intended toward Former Executive Secretary Medialdea. I hope this clarification helps set the record straight,” she concluded.
