Makati FC wants to make the most out of its experience competing against stronger and older teams when they join the PFF Women’s Football League.
Makati head coach Jayson Cutamora said his wards can’t wait to share the field against teams like Stallion Laguna FC and Kaya FC-Iloilo, who are composed of members of the Philippine national women’s football team.
Capital1, University of the Philippines, and University of Santo Tomas are also competing in the six-team league.
“For the kids, I think they are more eager to play. They want to challenge themselves more because they’re looking up to them and thinking: I want to be there and I want to be part of the national team,” Cutamora said.
“So, for me, I think it’s a big pleasure for them to play on the players who are on our national team.”
The Women’s Football League will begin on 22 March at the Mall of Asia (MoA) Football Pitch.
Makati FC might be entering as a young team in the competition but it is ready to go up against the rest of the competition.
Makati trashed Beach Hut FC, 3-0 in the final to clinch the Ang Liga 19 and under crown last week.
With the final being held at the MoA Football Pitch, Makati has a head start in adjusting with the field for the Women’s Football League.
Cutamora said he expects his wards to step up to the plate and learn when they play against tougher opponents.
