During an inspection of Tacloban Airport’s ongoing modernization, officially known as Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, on Friday, 14 March, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Department of Transportation (DoTr) reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and air travel infrastructure.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, CAAP director general Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario, Deputy Director General for Administration Atty. Danjun Lucas and other key officials from DoTr, in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Highways, led the inspection of the said airport.

Assessing the status of the airport’s new passenger terminal building, an important part of the development project was the main objective of the inspection.

According to CAAP, as of 14 March, the new PTB’s construction was 56.48 percent complete, with full completion anticipated in April 2026. In keeping with the government’s goal of updating the country’s aviation infrastructure, the modernized terminal will greatly improve passenger convenience and operational effectiveness once it is operational.

By allowing for more passenger traffic and flight operations, this partnership between the DoTr and CAAP demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing regional air connectivity and offering a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.
