DepEd empowers teachers with Google’s advanced learning platform

The Department of Education (DepEd) and Google Philippines have renewed their partnership with the launch of Google Workspace for Education Plus on 10 March 2025.

This collaboration aims to enhance teaching quality and improve services by equipping one million DepEd employees with advanced educational tools and resources.

Through this partnership, teachers will gain access to powerful tools such as Gmail, Docs, increased Drive storage, and Gemini AI, all supported by Google’s robust security features. The platform will enable educators to create engaging digital worksheets, ensure academic integrity with enhanced plagiarism detection, and conduct remote classes via Google Meet.

“This partnership with Google is not just a major upgrade; it’s proof that education, when powered by the right technology, can scale exponentially,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara.

The new platform also integrates with Google Classroom and AppSheet, streamlining tasks such as attendance tracking and grade computation.

Teachers can also collaborate more efficiently using tools like Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Assignments.

DepEd’s ongoing efforts to connect remote schools through its Computerization Program align with this partnership. As Education Secretary Angara emphasized, “The President has told us to make it happen for our teachers and students by any means possible.”

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has also underscored the transformative potential of technology in education, stating during his 2024 State of the Nation Address that “the depth and breadth at which these technologies will be transformative in our lives is fully expected.”
