Parañaque boosts preventive healthcare services

In a bid to boost preventive healthcare in the city, the local government of Parañaque inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with a healthcare technology firm.

To equip the city's barangay health facilities with early detection and preventive healthcare tools, Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez signed a MOA with 1Life Inc., led by Community Healthcare Partnerships Vice President Kenneth So.

Olivarez said it would bring 1Life’s early detection and preventive healthcare technology to about 20 barangay health centers, benefiting almost 500,000 city residents.

Under the agreement, 1Life Inc. would provide the city's local health centers with portable diagnostic equipment so barangay health workers can offer residents early detection and disease prevention services, reducing the number of people visiting the city’s government hospitals to avail themselves of these services.

The agreement will initially run for one year and cover all barangay health centers in Parañaque.

1Life Inc.’s basic diagnostic services will be pilot-tested in the local health clinic in Barangay Santo Niño before being rolled out to other city government-run health facilities.

Some of the basic diagnostic services that Parañaque residents can avail themselves of through the partnership include blood chemistry, full abdomen ultrasound, chest X-ray, fetal Doppler for pregnant patients, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation measurements, urinalysis, and checks of blood sugar, uric acid, cholesterol, and hemoglobin levels.
