Ramona Cecilia “Arci” Datuin Muñoz, aka Arci Muñoz, embodies a multifaceted spirit. Actress, singer, beauty queen and, now, a Sergeant in the Philippine Air Force Reserve, Arci’s life is all about craft and country.
Her journey began in the spotlight of StarStruck in 2005, launching a career that spanned various television networks and even international modeling competitions. Arci wasn’t content with just playing the leading lady. Before embracing those roles, she carved a niche playing compelling antagonists, showcasing her versatility in shows like Princess Charming, Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan and Ngayon at Kailanman, where she masterfully portrayed the obsessive and scheming Donna Benitez. Her transition to leading roles in shows like Felina: Prinsesa ng mga Pusa solidified her place in the industry.
Arci’s passions extended beyond acting. As the vocalist of the rock band Philia, she brought her powerful voice to the stage, even performing at the prestigious Pulp Summer Slam.
A significant shift occurred when she joined the ABS-CBN network in 2014, starring in popular dramas like Pasion de Amor and later, Walang Hanggang Paalam. Yet, even amidst her busy acting career, Arci felt a calling to serve her country.
“Naniniwala ako na ito ay isang paraan para mapag silbihan ko ang aking mahal na bayan (I believe this is a way for me to serve my beloved country),” she explains, believing that unity and discipline are key to achieving peace. “I believe that with unity and discipline, we can achieve the peace I long for.”
Her decision to join the Air Force Reserve was also a way to honor the sacrifices of soldiers. “Kaya naman hinihikayat ko kayo mag #enlist at mag bigay inspiration para sa susunod na henerasyon (That’s why I encourage you to enlist and inspire the next generation),” she encourages, urging others to experience the reservist life and inspire future generations.
Arci’s dedication to service wasn’t limited to the military. She also ventured into politics, running for councilor in Cainta, Rizal, further demonstrating her commitment to her community.
Adding to her already diverse portfolio, she recently appeared in the music video for TOMORO and Sean Kingston, showcasing her continued connection to the music scene.
Now, Arci returns to the big screen in the highly anticipated film Sinagtala, alongside Glaiza de Castro, Rhian Ramos, Matt Lozano and Rayver Cruz, set to release on 2 April. This film marks her return to movies, reinforcing her enduring presence in the entertainment industry.
