The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday held groundbreaking ceremonies for two major science high school projects in Bacoor City, Cavite and Marikina City in Metro Manila.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bacoor City Science and Technology High School.

The 12-story building will house 60 classrooms, nine workshop rooms, science laboratories, computer centers, a library, multimedia rooms, and collaborative learning spaces.

“This is not just a building. What’s more important is that our teachers are motivated to teach, and our children are motivated to attend school. They are eager to learn, they are eager to expand their horizons,” Angara said.

“This 12-story building symbolizes what we aim to deliver to our kabataang Bacooreño. The type of education that is of quality, and excellence, and globally competitive,” Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla said.

The previous day, Angara also led the groundbreaking for the five-story academic building of Marikina Science High School, which will include 32 classrooms and four specialized workshop rooms.
