Backed by P25.75 billion in investment last year, Maynilad Water Services Inc. aims to sustain expanded water access, reduced losses, and upgraded wastewater treatment across the west zone.

The company said Tuesday that its continued investments have propelled service reliability, ensured compliance with stricter environmental regulations, and strengthened the water supply system for its customers.

A key focus was wastewater management, with P7 billion allocated for the construction and upgrade of sewerage facilities. This includes the ongoing development of the Caloocan and Las Piñas Water Reclamation Facilities and upgrades to seven wastewater treatment plants in Muntinlupa, Pasay, Quezon City and Manila to meet the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ stricter wastewater standards under DAO 2021-19.

Replacing old pipes

To combat water losses, Maynilad replaced 142 kilometers of old pipelines as part of its P6-billion Non-Revenue Water reduction program, recovering 158 million liters per day — enough to supply thousands of households.

To stabilize and expand the water supply, P6.5 billion was spent on the construction and rehabilitation of major water facilities, including the Poblacion Water Treatment Plant in Muntinlupa and the Parada Pumping Station in Valenzuela.

Maynilad also extended pipelines into Morong, Rizal, in preparation for the Kaliwa Dam water source.

Meanwhile, P4.4 billion was used to develop small-scale water treatment facilities that tap alternative sources such as dams and rivers in Cavite province.

Digital communication upgrades

Maynilad likewise invested in customer service and digital communication upgrades to improve responsiveness and engagement.

“We remain focused on strengthening our operations and expanding access to clean water and sanitation for our customers,” Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez said.

Maynilad, the largest private water concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, serves Metro Manila and Cavite, covering Manila, Quezon City, Makati, Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas, Malabon, Cavite City, Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario.
