According to a viral video recorded by an individual and sent to DAILY TRIBUNE, Mayor Mendoza was captured allegedly shouting at a port police officer, stating: "Kapag pinigilan mo ako, may mangyayari sa’yo." (If you block my way, something will happen to you.)
Although the mayor’s face was not visible in the video, the source identified the raging individual as Mayor Mendoza.
In the same video, the alleged mayor also asked the security personnel where he resided, to which the security guard replied that he was not from the area.
"Respestuhin mo ko, ako ang mayor dito. Sa local government pa rin ito (Show some respect, I'm the mayor here. This is still the local government)," he said.
In an interview with local media, the mayor insisted that he neither challenged the security guard to a fistfight nor threatened the security personnel.
The altercation stemmed from the mayor being denied entry into the premises of San Andres Port, where a building for his business is also being erected.
As for the PPA-Port Management Bicol, it stated that the mayor could not even present a legal document proving that the piece of land he wanted to occupy was legitimately his.
Following the incident, the PPA augmented its police force as of Tuesday.
