The Department of Justice Action Center (DoJAC) has entered into an agreement to assist individuals in crisis situations by providing free legal assistance and prioritizing them for financial and psychosocial support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
This was formalized under a memorandum of understanding signed on Monday by DoJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, focusing on a Client Referral and Psychosocial Intervention Program.
Remulla said that through the agreement, they are institutionalizing a referral system to ensure that those seeking legal assistance from the DoJ also receive necessary financial, medical, and psychosocial support from the DSWD.
According to the DoJ chief, the program ensures that “individuals in crisis situations will not only have legal aid but also the means to pursue cases, seek justice, and recover from their hardships.”
