La Union — The Province of La Union commemorated its 175th Founding Anniversary by celebrating its rich history, resilience and continuous progress since its establishment in 1850.
The celebration commenced with a Dawn Watch Prayer and Oplan Dalus Probinsya — a provincial cleanup initiative — and followed by a Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Grounds.
Led by Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, the festivities were attended by provincial and municipal officials, PGLU department heads and employees and civil society leaders.
At the Mabanag Grounds in San Fernando City, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) organized Aldaw ti Kaprobinsiaan, offering free social services such as medical, dental and legal consultations, as well as Real Property Tax campaigns.
The Community Pantree and Sukat Bukel Program provided free seedlings to promote environmental sustainability, while pet owners availed of veterinary services, including free anti-rabies vaccinations and spaying for pets.
Meantime, the La Union Job Fair attracted 248 job applicants vying for positions in banks, supermarkets, hospitals, hotels, gas stations and restaurants. Overseas job opportunities were also available through participating recruitment agencies.
Local farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises benefited from the Kadiwa ng Pangulo, where quality local products were showcased and sold at affordable prices, supporting more than 20 exhibitors.
Hundreds of Catholic devotees, on the other hand, gathered at St. William the Hermit Cathedral for a Thanksgiving Mass, expressing gratitude for the province’s continued growth.
Capping off the festivities, the Kaprobinsiaan Night at San Fernando City Plaza will feature performances from BRYN, DREAM 7, KZ Tandingan impersonator Vyan de la Cruz, Michael Dutchi and Sowhunly.
