Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, joined by his daughter Raisa, led the opening of the 52nd Paraw Regatta Festival on Sunday, 2 March 2025. Participants set sail in vibrant regatta boats from the shores of Arevalo district, marking the start of the longest and largest sailing competition in Southeast Asia. The race spans a 30-kilometer course from Villa Beach to Guimaras Island and back. Established in 1973, the festival celebrates the traditional double-outrigger boats, emphasizing their importance in Ilonggo maritime heritage.
