Two hold-up robbery suspects were arrested by officers of the Caloocan City Police after a successful follow-up operation.
According to the initial investigation, the victim, identified as “Paulo,” was in the driver’s seat of his L300 vehicle in Barangay 86, parked in the southbound lane of EDSA, while waiting for his wife, who was withdrawing cash from a nearby ATM.
However, as he waited for his wife, two suspects approached the vehicle at gunpoint and declared a robbery, “forcibly taking” away Paulo’s iPhone 13 Plus, worth P58,000.
The report added that after taking the phone, the suspects ran toward Monumento Circle.
Through the mobile device of Paulo’s wife, the stolen iPhone was located, and they immediately approached the policemen who were patrolling the nearby area at that time.
The suspects were immediately arrested by Police Corporal Ronel Magtoto and Police Corporal Mark Tumaliuan, and through a body search, they recovered a caliber .38 firearm with live ammunition and an improvised pen gun with caliber .38 ammunition.
The arrested individuals were identified as “Basti,” a 20-year-old vendor, and “Lustana,” an 18-year-old jobless individual. They are both residents of Barangay 95 in Caloocan City.
They will face charges of robbery hold-up and violations of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
Both suspects are subject to inquest proceedings at the Caloocan City Prosecutor's Office.
