Watch out for Justin Viloria

Nick Giongco

Fast-rising super-featherweight Justin Viloria has a solid boxing pedigree.

His uncle, Brian Viloria, was a two-division world champion and one of the best fighters of his generation.

But Justin, just 20, is eyeing to carve his own niche and it seems he is on the right track.

A holder of a 7-0-0 win-loss-draw card with five knockouts, Justin is slated to return to the ring once again when he battles Fidencio Hernandez this Saturday night (Sunday morning in Manila) at the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

The Vilorias trace their roots to Narvacan in Ilocos Sur, through their father Ben but Brian and Dominic — Justin’s father — grew up in Waipahu in Hawaii.

The 5-feet-9 Justin will have his hands full against Hernandez, who fights out of Oxnard, California.

Hernandez is also unbeaten with a 3-0 mark with two knockouts and should give Justin trouble.

Having won back-to-back US national titles in 2021 and 2022, the southpaw Justin is known for his skill, speed and power, traits that could land him big fights down the road.

And with an ever-supportive corner that includes his father Dominic and mother Shannon, Justin, the youngest of four kids, appears to be the guy who could eventually become the next great fighter from his family.
