The Philippine Army (PA) announced the creation of a new advisory council to aid in its transition to external security operations and support its ongoing modernization efforts.

In a statement on Friday, Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said the newly formed PA Strategic Advisory Council held its inaugural meeting on Thursday at the Philippine Army Officers' Clubhouse in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

According to Dema-ala, Army Commanding General LtGen. Roy Galido and the Army advisors discussed during the meeting the redefined focus of the council on key reform areas essential for PA’s operational and organizational efficiency, effectiveness and modernization.

“It can be noted that in light of the recent global and regional developments, the Army is prioritizing key reforms in Logistics Management, Education and Training, Human Resources and Healthcare Development,” Dema-ala said.

The new advisory council enables its members to concentrate on their advisory role and encourages broader engagement.

The new council replaces the PA Multi-sectoral Advisory Board, established in 2011, which played a key role in the Army’s reform and transformation efforts.

Galido expressed confidence that the council's expertise and strategic guidance will enhance the Army's ability to address emerging threats in the rapidly evolving security landscape.
