The World Instant Noodles Association (WINA) concluded the 11th World Instant Noodles Summit (the “Manila Summit”) on 26 February 2025, unveiling the Manila Declaration, a new global policy framework aimed at addressing industry challenges in nutrition, sustainability, food safety, and social responsibility.

The two-day summit, held in Manila from 25 to 26 February, gathered more than 250 representatives from WINA member companies, including instant noodle manufacturers and raw material suppliers from around the world. The event focused on strategies to tackle global nutritional issues, food security, and climate change.

WINA Challenge Targets introduced

On the final day of the summit, WINA formally announced the WINA Challenge Targets, a set of voluntary goals for the global instant noodle industry. These targets outline specific commitments in four key areas:

  • Nutrition and Health – Reducing salt and fat content while improving nutritional balance.

  • Environmental Sustainability – Cutting greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing waste, and increasing renewable energy use.

  • Food Safety – Strengthening quality control measures across the supply chain.

  • Social Responsibility – Supporting disaster relief efforts and sustainable farming practices.

WINA chairman Koki Ando emphasized the industry's commitment to these initiatives, noting that the theme "World United by Noodles" reflects the need for global cooperation to address pressing social and environmental concerns.

Industry-wide collaboration and future plans

Summit discussions included expert-led forums and joint sessions with manufacturers, focusing on industry best practices and innovations. One key proposal introduced by Ando was the establishment of “WINA Day,” a designated event for member companies to conduct social contribution activities in their respective regions.

WINA reaffirmed its commitment to equipping member companies with the latest industry data and safety guidelines to maintain consumer trust. The organization pledged to drive sustainability efforts and encourage businesses to take concrete actions aligned with the WINA Challenge Targets.

The Manila Summit marked a significant step in uniting the global instant noodle industry under shared goals, with WINA vowing continued collaboration with governments and organizations to foster a more sustainable and socially responsible sector.
