BAGUIO CITY — Through the years, pupils of the different schools of Baguio City and other places never failed to leave the crowd with awe and excitement with their colorful and flowery costumes and breathtaking performances every Grand Street Dancing Parade of the Baguio Flower Festival famously known as Panagbenga or Seasons of Bloom.
Yesterday, five entries to the Drum and Lyre category filled Session Road and Harrison Road with echoing rhythms and lively musical harmonies accompanied with choreographed dances to the amazement of the residents and visitors who at early in the morning find their perfect spot to watch the parade. The participants are from Baguio City, Benguet and La Union.
Already on its 29th year, Panagbenga or the Baguio Flower Festival 2025 with a theme “Blossoms beyond Boundaries, the Drum and Lyre category was made alive as it is used to be by pupils of the Mabini Elementary School Drum and Lyre Corps and Street Dancing Group, Mares Rhytmical Lynx, the El Tribune Lucban of Lucban Elementary School, Tuba Central Drum and Lyre Corps from Tuba, Benguet and the Rosario Drum and Lyre Corps from Rosario, La Union.
Festival dance category of the Grand Street Parade came soundly and full of vibrancy with the performances of High School students from the different schools of the Cordillera, Pangasinan and La Union and even Nueva Ecija.
The Bibyon Lubuagan from the Lubuagan Tribe of Kalinga showcased their rich cultural heritage with traditional dance harmonized with festival choreographies and rhythms. Performers from the Bitulok tribe of Nueva Ecija, Amputi Layag Street Dancers from San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Tribune Hiraya Manawari of the Linubian Festival of Rosario, La Union and “Tawid a balitok” (Golden heritage) from Bacnotan, La Union also displayed their dance prowess to the delight of the crowd.
