It’s Q&A time. Here are answers to your most pressing concerns.

Biking increases cardiovascular fitness.

Q. Exercise: do I really need it?

Whether you like it or not, the answer is yes.

Remember this: every time you move your body, you are boosting your ability to heal. Here is how it works. The lymphatic system, the garbage collector of the body, cannot do its job properly if you do not move.

Find an exercise that you are comfortable with, whether walking, running, biking, swimming, etc.

And then, be consistent with your regimen. Make sure you put in 30 minutes of exercise daily.

Maintain a balanced diet with fruits and vegetables.

Q. How do I achieve a glowing complexion?

The combination that works best is a nutrient-dense diet with lots of vegetables and fruits, good fiber, lean protein and good hydration with water.

Add a vitamin C with Zinc supplement to increase collagen production and boost the immune system.

Sleep is a vital factor in having good skin. A well-rested body reflects the state of one’s health through the quality of your skin. Put in seven to eight hours of sleep nightly.

Q: What is the most potent herb I can take to strengthen my immune system?

According to health experts, turmeric is the popular herb of choice. While there is a proliferation of turmeric available in the market today, choose one from a reliable manufacturer. Use your discernment when purchasing a product. Read the labels well. Make sure there is no coloring or preservative included.

Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory herb which has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine. As a tea or a supplement, it is best taken after a meal.  Recommended usage of turmeric is normally for one to two months. Rest a few months before taking it again. Consult your doctor before including it in your daily regimen.

Read a good book.

Q:  Do you have any anger management tips?

1. Count to 10 before reacting to any stressors.

2. Inhale five counts, hold three counts, exhale five.  This 5-3-5 method is effective. It helps if you close your eyes.

3. Sit down. Be in a relaxed position. If you are angry do not remain in a standing position. Have a seat. Relax.

4. Walk away from the situation. Find a garden or a park and take a stroll. A good long walk can clear your mind and unburden your heart.

5. Do something that will please you — watch a movie, meet up with friends, listen to calming music, go to a karaoke or dance club.

6. Read a good book.

7. Sip calming teas like chamomile and peppermint.
