Senator Christopher “Bong” Go participated in the "Kasalang Bayan" event at Tahanan Village Park, BF Homes, Parañaque City, on Friday, 14 February, where 80 couples tied the knot in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Senator Go stood as one of the sponsors of the event, invited by Barangay BF Homes officials.
In his address, Senator Go congratulated the newlyweds and emphasized the importance of love, trust, and mutual respect in marriage. “Isang malaking karangalan para sa akin na maging bahagi ng inyong espesyal na okasyon, isang araw na punong-puno ng pagmamahal, kasiyahan, at bagong simula (It is a great honor for me to be a part of your special occasion, a day full of love, happiness, and a new beginning),” he said.
He further explained that marriage is a lifelong commitment that requires love and understanding. “Ang pag-aasawa ay hindi lang isang seremonya kundi isang panghabambuhay na pangako. Ito ay isang pagsasama na pinagtitibay ng pagmamahalan, tiwala, at paggalang sa isa’t isa. Sa bawat araw ng inyong buhay mag-asawa, haharap kayo ng iba’t ibang hamon, pero tandaan ninyo — kapag may pagmamahalan at pagkakaintindihan, walang problemang hindi kayang lampasan (Marriage is not just a ceremony, but a lifelong commitment. It is a union strengthened by love, trust, and respect for one another. In every day of your married life, you will face different challenges, but remember — when there is love and understanding, there is no problem that cannot be overcome),” Go stated.
The senator also advised the couples to nurture their relationships and build strong family values. “Magtulungan kayo sa pagbuo ng isang pamilyang may malasakit, respeto, at pagmamahal — dahil ang matibay na pamilya ay pundasyon ng isang matatag na lipunan (Help each other in building a family with care, respect, and love — because a strong family is the foundation of a stable society.),” he added.
Go expressed his gratitude to local officials, particularly Barangay BF Homes Chairperson Jeremy Marquez, for organizing the event. He also highlighted the role of the community leaders, including Bicol Saro Partylist Rep. Brian Yamsuan, who attended the event.
“Sa pagsisikap na maisakatuparan and 'Kasalang Bayan' na ito, hindi lang ito tungkol sa pagbibigay ng serbisyong pampubliko kundi isang simbolo ng malasakit at pagkalinga sa ating mga kababayan at pagbibigay importansya sa pamilya (In the effort to make this 'Kasalang Bayan' a reality, it is not just about providing public service, but a symbol of care and concern for our fellow citizens and the importance of family),” Go said.
The Senator expressed his personal connection to Parañaque City, mentioning that he often visits the area. He emphasized that, as a Bisaya, he values gratitude and feels a strong sense of responsibility to be there for the community. He also reflected on his commitment to providing immediate assistance during times of crisis, such as during fires, natural disasters, or any other urgent needs, always offering help to the best of his ability.
In closing, Go urged the newlywed couples to inspire others with their commitment, encouraging Filipinos to love, serve, and show malasakit for one another. “Mahalin po natin ang kapwa natin Pilipino. Unahin natin ang kapakanan ng mahihirap nating kababayan. Bukas ang opisina ko para sa inyong lahat (Let us love our fellow Filipinos. Let us prioritize the welfare of our less fortunate countrymen. My office is open to all of you),” he reminded the audience.
