A former overseas Filipino worker recently became an overnight millionaire after winning P13,131,506.60 in the Lotto 6/42 draw on 28 January.
The winner, who has been playing the lottery for 30 years, purchased the ticket in Biliran, Visayas, with numbers that hold personal significance — the birthdays of his wife and siblings.
Accompanied by his wife, he claimed his prize at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City and plans to invest the windfall into his existing business and expand by opening a new store.
The winner’s success adds to the ongoing excitement surrounding Lotto 6/42, drawn every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9 p.m.
While the prize is subject to a 20 percent tax under the TRAIN Law, the winner is encouraged to claim the prize within a year to avoid forfeiture, with unclaimed winnings contributing to the PCSO Charity Fund.
Meanwhile, PCSO continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to community welfare.
On 31 January, PCSO participated in the service caravan in Padre Garcia, Batangas, organized by the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.
In this collaborative effort, 1,000 food packs, or ChariTimba, were distributed to Batangueños in need, showcasing the power of government collaboration in addressing the needs of the underprivileged.
PCSO’s corporate social responsibility extends to educational support as well.
On 28 January, the agency donated 50 desktop computers and 30 printers to various schools in Anao, Tarlac, including Bantog Elementary School and Anao High School
The agency also distributed 300 hygiene kits to single parents in Anao as part of its Gender and Development program.
With a focus on education, health and community welfare, PCSO continues to make a significant impact nationwide, bringing hope to Filipinos in need and fostering the spirit of collaboration and service.
