Kaunlad Pinoy: Empowering entrepreneurs

Carl Magadia

Across the Philippines, from Negros Occidental to Davao, communities are seizing new growth opportunities, thanks to initiatives that provide resources, training and support for small businesses. These efforts are empowering local entrepreneurs and helping strengthen the economy. At the heart of this movement is Kaunlad Pinoy (number 133), an organization working nationwide to uplift Filipinos and promote sustainable development.

A journey of growth and impact

On 3 February, Kaunlad Pinoy took center stage on the program Lead na Tama with Jose Esgana.

During the interview, Kap. Ricky Juab shared how the organization began as a grassroots effort to support small business owners. Over time, it has evolved into a national movement focused on economic empowerment. What started as a simple advocacy is now a mission-driven organization creating opportunities for entrepreneurs.

Strengthening local economies

In Negros Occidental, Kaunlad Pinoy continues to demonstrate its commitment to economic development.

The team met with Mayor Gerry Rojas in Murcia to discuss initiatives that support local businesses, focusing on sustainable livelihood programs and financial literacy. These efforts equip residents with the knowledge and resources they need to build economic stability, empowering them to create a better future for themselves and their families.

On 7 February, Kaunlad Pinoy joined the Dinagyaw Festival in Candoni, where they recognized outstanding local talents through the Kaunlad Pinoy’s Choice award.

The event, attended by Mayor Ray R. Ruiz and Governor Eugenio Lacson, highlighted the important connection between creativity and entrepreneurship in building community resilience and prosperity.

Building a brighter future in Davao

Kaunlad Pinoy’s impact continued to grow in Davao.

On 8 February, the team visited Tagum City, where they worked with local leaders, including lawyer Ana Alvarez, Councilor Emily Alvarez, and Councilor Rob Perez, to introduce entrepreneurship programs to over 1,000 family leaders.

These programs were designed to equip participants with the skills necessary for business sustainability, giving them the tools to take control of their future.

Leadership and collaboration took center stage during the Leaders and Officers Summit in New Corella.

Alvarez led discussions on effective leadership and community-driven economic growth, as local officials and business leaders explored strategies to foster entrepreneurship and strengthen the local economy.

Recognizing the vital role of youth in shaping the future, Kaunlad Pinoy also met with SK chairmen from various barangays in Tagum City.

These young leaders were encouraged to develop an entrepreneurial mindset early on, ensuring that the next generation of Filipinos is ready to build on the foundation of success.

In a show of support for grassroots entrepreneurs, the Kaunlad Pinoy team visited the Tagum City Public Market.

Alongside Tita Emily Alvarez, they listened to the stories and needs of local vendors and distributed collaborative aprons as a symbol of unity and support. This simple act served as a reminder that every entrepreneur, no matter how small, plays an essential role in the country’s economic landscape.

A future built on resilience

Kaunlad Pinoy remains dedicated to uplifting Filipino entrepreneurs, strengthening local economies, and providing lasting solutions for business sustainability.

Through its ongoing engagement with communities, the organization is laying the foundation for a more resilient and prosperous future.

With Kaunlad Pinoy, success, opportunity and hope will flourish for every Filipino striving for a better tomorrow.
