Baguio pushes women skills development

Vergara said that the BTC have strong advocacy on women’s empowerment through education. With this, the BTC led by its chief distributed needed starter kits to the women for their economic journey

BAGUIO CITY — Aside from promoting the improvement of the tourism of Baguio, the Baguio Tourism Council (BTC) is all out in being part of empowering the women in the city.

BTC chairperson Gladys Vergara said through the “BTC Ginhawa Venture,” in tight cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the  “Ginhawa Venture: Nail Care Training” aims to equip the women with ample skills and develop their talent. This she said is their contribution to the willingness of the women to avail of every livelihood or economic opportunity.

Vergara said that the BTC have strong advocacy on women’s empowerment through education. With this, the BTC led by its chief distributed needed starter kits to the women for their economic journey.

She stressed the importance of the historic the formerBaguio City School of Arts and Trades now the Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education. The institution was created through Republic Act 7834 which was authored by former Baguio City Congressman and Mayor Bernardo Vergara which is her father.
