The Court of Appeals (CA) achieved a remarkable 108 percent case disposal rate in 2024, resolving 15,752 cases against its target of 14,520.

This was announced during the CA’s 89th anniversary celebration on Monday, 3 February, attended by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo.

CA Presiding Justice Fernanda Lampas-Peralta reported the record-breaking case disposal rate.

In his address, Chief Justice Gesmundo praised the CA’s transformation over the years and highlighted the critical role appellate courts play in ensuring a fair and efficient judiciary.

He also acknowledged the impact of digital platforms on the judiciary, noting how technology-driven innovations have enhanced case management and streamlined court processes.

“These tools have not only allowed us to continue serving the public amidst unforeseen challenges but have also set the stage for a future where justice is delivered more swiftly, fairly, and transparently,” he said, reaffirming the Supreme Court’s commitment to its Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 (SPJI).

In addition to its record-breaking case disposal rate, the CA received several accolades in 2024, such as its Accounting Office winning the Outstanding Accounting Office Award from the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines and the Department of Energy giving the office a 90% rating in its energy audit, recognizing its efforts in sustainability and energy efficiency.

The event was attended by CA Anniversary Executive Committee Chairperson, CA Associate Justice Maria Elisa Sempio Diy, along with Co-Chairpersons CA Associate Justices Marietta S. Brawner-Cawaling and Raymond Joseph G. Javier, and other CA Associate Justices.
