Two major housing projects — Golden Sunrise and South Savannah — will provide safe and decent homes for over 4,500 families displaced by the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Extension Project.

Located in Barangay Malainen Bago, Naic, Cavite, these developments are part of a comprehensive initiative by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and DOTr to offer accessible and sustainable housing for affected communities.

During the groundbreaking ceremony on 30 January, SHFC president and CEO Federico Laxa emphasized the agency's role in leading these projects. “These housing developments are designed to be highly livable, offering essential utilities and convenient access to key facilities and services as part of the government’s efforts to address the social displacement of affected families,” Laxa said.

The event was attended by key officials, including DOTr Undersecretary Jeremy Regino, Naic Vice Mayor Junio Dualan, and Japan International Cooperation Agency representative Fukui Keisuke, who all expressed strong support for the housing projects.

The Golden Sunrise and South Savannah projects in Cavite will provide permanent homes to families displaced by the NSCR Extension Project.

Laxa reaffirmed SHFC’s commitment to the NSCR project, thanking the various government agencies and local stakeholders for their collaboration. "We fully support this government initiative led by the DOTr and extend our gratitude to the Naic local government, DHSUD, DILG, Philippine National Railways, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, and the Commission on Human Rights for their invaluable support,” he said.

Vice Mayor Dualan highlighted the collaborative nature of the project, stating, “This is not just a relocation project — it is a collaborative effort between government agencies, the local government, and the community.”

The Golden Sunrise project, covering seven hectares, will provide homes for over 2,520 families, while the six-hectare South Savannah will accommodate 2,000 families. These developments will serve as permanent housing solutions for those displaced by the NSCR Extension Project, ensuring safe, stable, and dignified communities for the affected families.

Strategically located 47 kilometers south of Metro Manila, Naic offers a suburban living environment with easy access to nearby business districts like Dasmariñas and General Trias. The town is well-connected through major road networks, including CAVITEX and Tanza-Trece Martires Road, providing convenient access to Metro Manila and neighboring provinces.

In addition to its partnership with the DOTr, SHFC is also actively advancing the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program. Among its upcoming projects are Crystal Peak Estates in San Fernando City, Pampanga, People’s Ville in Davao City, and Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, all of which are set for turnover soon. Meanwhile, another 4PH project in Naic, Parlas, is currently under construction.
