SUBIC TOWN, Zambales — The body of a fisherman who died during a fishing expedition was retrieved and will be returned back home in this town on 28 January.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the body of 58-year-old Elpidio Lamban is being transported back to his home in Barangay Calapacuan of this town after dying in a fishing expedition on the waters of Silanguin Island.
The PCG personnel on board BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) is currently assisting the FB El Kapitan, the ship the victim used during the expedition, in transporting the deceased crew.
According to FB El Kapitan’s skipper Michael Vasquez, Lamban experienced difficulty breathing and blood vomiting amid their fishing operation. Vasquez immediately reported the incident to BRP Cabra during its routine vessel check to Filipino fishing vessels within the coast of Zambales.
The PCG vessel then proceeded to FB El Kapitan situated 70 nautical miles southwest of Silanguin Island for the smooth and safe transport of the cadaver.
According to BRP Cabra, they will arrive in the vicinity waters of Subic Bay Freeport on 28 January.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard Station Zambales has coordinated with the bereaved family for proper disposition, including reception, ambulance transport and funeral services.
