Ara Galang came into the game with a chip on her shoulder following a subpar performance in Chery Tiggo’s loss the last time out.
The veteran winger bounced back mightily with a strong performance as the Crossovers recovered from a set down to tame Farm Fresh, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20, in the 2024-2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Saturday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Galang uncorked 20 points coming off 15 attacks, four kill blocks and an ace to lead Chery Tiggo back on the right track for a 5-3 win-loss record tied with Choco Mucho.
Her output somehow erased an uncharacteristic four-point outing in the Crossovers’ five-set loss to Petro Gazz.
“I guess personally I have an unfinished business from last game. I barely contributed to the team. So, my mindset is not to let that happen again. I need to rebound from that,” said Galang, who had a 15-of-53 spiking clip.
“I really tried to contribute. Not just in the non-scoring points but to also score so that at least our offense will be distributed and make it easy for everybody.”
Cess Robles led all scorers with 21 points she collected from 16 kills, three aces and a pair of kill blocks for Chery Tiggo.
Czarina Carandang added 12 points while Shaya Adorador chipped in seven points off the bench for the Crossovers.
Chery Tiggo outgunned Farm Fresh, 61-50, and received 22 free points off the Foxies’ miscues.
The Crossovers restored order after yielding the opening round, dominating the next two frames to regain momentum. The Foxies behind Trisha Tubu tried to mount a comeback in the fourth but Chery Tiggo had all the answers to keep a safe distance on their way to claiming victory in the two-hour, 11-minute match.
Farm Fresh fell to a 3-4 card as Tubu had little help on offense.
Tubu was the lone Foxies player in double figures with 15 points with all but one coming off spikes.
Jolina dela Cruz, who dropped 20 points in her team debut after recovering from a knee injury in Farm Fresh’s sweep of Nxled last week, was limited to just seven points.
Alyssa Bertolano scored nine while Rizza Crus had eight for the Foxies.
