Over 10K aspiring cops pass PNP entrance test

More than 10,000 aspiring law enforcers have passed the Philippine National Police (PNP) Entrance Examination, according to the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

The results of the examinations — held nationwide last 24 November 2024 — were released Thursday as the Napolcom stressed that the exams are crucial for maintaining the professionalism of the PNP by ensuring merit-based recruitment and career advancement within the police force.

Out of the 44,436 total examinees, 13,233 successfully passed, resulting in an overall passing rate of 29.78 percent. Of this total, 10,426 examinees passed the PNP Entrance Examination, representing 28.65 percent of the 36,386 civilian and patrolmen/patrolwomen examinees who took the test.

The 10,426 PNP Entrance eligibles are now qualified to apply to the police service, provided they meet the prescribed general qualifications for appointment in the PNP as outlined in Section 14 of Republic Act 8551.

The PNP Entrance Examination was administered to qualified civilians with bachelor’s degrees, aged between 21 and 30 on the examination date, as well as to patrolmen and patrolwomen with temporary appointments due to a lack of appropriate eligibility.

The 10,426 PNP Entrance eligibles are now qualified to apply to the police service, provided they meet the prescribed general qualifications for appointment in the PNP as outlined in Section 14 of Republic Act 8551.

The examinations also included assessments for in-service police officers seeking career advancement, known as the Promotional Examinations and the 2,807 police officers who passed the Promotional Examinations were categorized into four levels, reflecting the eligibility requirements for specific ranks within the PNP structure.
